This whole exercise thing is not going my way....Or, how I became a pegleg pirate.



I had great intentions of exercising...I joined a challenge with a Facebook group to do a Jillian Michael's workout DVD everyday in the month of October.  In addition to that, I started running with the Couch to 5K app on my phone.  Then a week and half into running and just a week into the Jillian challenge, my knee started hurting.....Like really hurting.  I went to the track near my house for my morning run and I just couldn't do it. It brought tears to my eyes to try to run.  So after 10 minutes of walking  limping, I went home.  And I was really disappointed.
So I called my dad.  He's an orthopedic physician assistant.  And I told him that my knee was really bothering me.  I had been icing it every night and it wasn't getting any better, only worse.  Could he do something about it?  He said to come by the hospital and he and the doctor would look at my knee.
So, Tuesday, I went to see my dad. He and the doctor said it could be one of three things: a bone bruise (which the doc said is pretty painful), a bruised meniscus (also painful), or a torn meniscus.  The only way to know for sure what is wrong is to send me for an MRI.  So, I have one scheduled for Monday.  Until then, he said I need to be on crutches or use a cane to help keep weight off my knee.  Crutches are too cumbersome for me to get around on at work, so a cane it is....
Here's hoping we get some good results on Monday....Bruised means no surgery, Torn means surgery.....Praying for bruised!
